I took these shots a couple of days ago in my back yard, I was trying to get some shots of some hummingbirds, when this hawk flew in trying to catch one of the other sparrows at one of my feeders, he or she missed and landed up in this tree just posing for me. This may also be a coopers hawk, but I really think it is a Sharp Shinned Hawk. I was going to Hawk mountain in PA this morning but the clouds were low and it started to rain, so tomorrow we will go and hopefully we will get some shots of the bald eagle migrating.

Nice series. I had one of these guys snacking on a few birds around my house a while ago. I thought it was a Cooper's but was told that it was a sharp shinned hawk also.

I am going to go with the Red-shouldered Hawk ID. Both Cooper's and Sharp-shinned would have a streaked breast.

The immature Cooper’s Hawk has teardrop markings on the breast, which this has. The tail is way too long to be a Red-shouldered Hawk.

I like these shots, the red eye's are intimidatingly.

He was a pretty bird, but may have had some chicken hawk in him as the moment he would see me he would fly off.
