How come sometimes the Digest appears but there is no "Return to Digest" button?

There is one at the bottom of every page. See sample

If you click from the digest, then you'll see return to digest. Otherwise, you won't see it because there is nothing to return to. Not everyone visits topics from the digest. So it wouldn't make sense to always include that link for everyone.
