Hi I would like to be able to use Photoshop for editing my many 35mm slide transparencies but the learning curve is somewhat enormous as I am an amateur. Does anybody have a favorite learning tool, manual they use? Thanks, James

Welcome aboard.

There are a number of books available on the various flavors of Photoshop. You can also get some pointers at Kelbytv.com - they have some good videos.

If you have a budget, look at the local community college, if there is one nearby. They frequently have non-credit classes on many software packages.

Thanks for responding. What programs do you use for editing photos?

Xpane.... I've found the best way to learn any type of photo software is to load "A COPY" of a photo and start playing with the various setting. I'd start under enhancements, click on things, move the sliders and see what they do, then click on undo or the back arrow, and try the the next one. I have several books, but have very seldom used them. If you screw the COPY up, just delete it and load another one.

Thanks Mike. I am of the volition to do the same. It's just a little intimidating learning the terms and how to go about it. Jim

I highly recommend purchasing "The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby. I keep a copy at my desk and it is well worn. Contents cover just about everything(with the exception of layers) in photoshop and procedures are step-by-step in plain english.

Hi, I'm a new member and hope you all can give me some help.
I have PSE 8 and have been receiving offers to upgrade to the 10 version. I have an iMac with OS 10.6.8. I have had earlier versions of Elements and have had to upgrade as I've upgraded computers. I've beeb disappointed with the Elements as I have lost abilities I've had before the upgrade. My latest upgrade has been really a disappointment to me as I am sure I don't know how to use all its features. Therefore, would it be feasible for me to upgrade to Elements 10. Thanks, Bobbi B.

Bobbi.... If you have a Costco near you, you can buy PSE 10 right now for $49.99.
