Congrats on winning. We have two local state fairs, but I'm skipping both of them. The Covid numbers have been shooting up daily.
You are probably ok if you got the vaccinations (I think there will be a booster available for us old timers in a couple of months). I know there are many who are reluctant to avail themselves of the available vaccines--for me it felt absolutely liberating to be vaccinated.
Congratulations, John. Sounds like a great day well spent.

Yesterday (Sunday) we went to the State Fair in Indianapolis for two reasons: I wanted to see my scores in the annual photo contest, and I always enjoy going (have been attending since I was seven or eight--unfortunately, last years’ was cancelled). I got third place in the black and white Nature and Scenic Division and scored well with my other entry. The most satisfying feeling, though, was seeing crowds of people out enjoying themselves again. That was really the best part of the trip.
(Side note: If you have a doom and gloom Covid response, save it for someone else.)

Congrats on your entries.
I am eagerly awaiting the start of the Washington State Fair to see how my entries fared this year.

The one time I entered a photo contest I didn't place in top 3 places, but did win the people's choice award (no prize). what I found out later was my photo was was being used by locale magazine for tourism and also used in national publication. I was never credited nor notified in either case. As one that is never looking for accolades I was a bit disappointed in the system of photo contests. After that I quit entering.
From many years ago, I think around 1977. Indiana State Fair had just over 3,000 photo entries. You could enter six photos. Only 100 would be displayed and of the six I entered five were included in the 100. I found one the first day I went, the other four were found by people that worked with me. Really proud of that even though non placed.
