My ten-year-old weather station has finally measured its last temperature. Wondering if any fellow hoggers have a recommendation for a replacement? Looking for windspeed, temp, humidity, etc., with wireless remote. I've heard Ambient is good; any others I ought to consider?

I have this Ambient Weather station and I am very satisfied with it's performance.

I used an Ambient weather station for many years until the barn computer died.

I have an ambient weather station for 5 years and experienced no problems with it. Reported data is consistent with the few others within a 25 mile range of my location. Measures temp, humidity, rainfall, wind speed and direction, uv level. It has a dashboard display to monitor data and I have it tied to ambient to collect historical/trend data. I feed its data to weather underground and d pws networks. Have been satisfied with its reliability and performance.

I have a weather station I got at Costco a few years ago that does all that (temp, humidity, wind, rainfall, etc.) except it doesn't have a wireless remote.

Check this out. I have been running it for over a year and the data is great. New concept in home weather
stations. Richard

The nice thing about the weather station I had was that it could write the data to a file. I took those data and made a database so I could look up historical data. Anywhere from the last hour to the last decade (when I started).

I found it useful sometimes on the farm to keep track of rainfall amounts and temperatures. Temperature/humidity data are valuable in predicting fungus problems.

Or you might just want to brag that your temperature reached 107F last Thursday.

I also purchased an Ambient 2000 to replace a 10 year old Davis weather station. The console is great and it also can connect with Weather Underground and and Ambient. There is also an app so you can monitor from anywhere. In addition I added some extra temperature/humidity sensor and a lightning detector. I'd recommend it.

I helped fund a KickStarter project a number of years ago, BloomSky. I have their full package and it has worked very well. Check it out at: https://www.bloomsky.com/

NOAA is a valuable source of historical information, but a local weather station provides more granularity (unless your local weather station is reporting to NOAA).
