I like #1.
#2, while I like the tone and luminance of the reflections, it works against the subject, much like dappled sunlight in a foreground or background would distract from a portrait. If composed alone as an abstract, I could look at the reflections all day!

Both are well executed photographs, I think #1 is the better composition.

Appreciate it!

Another vote for #1. Greater detail and the eye is drawn to the subject, the leaf.

Thank you Don!

#1, but #2 is very good. I would not abandon it, but play with crops and effects. Two compelling photos.

I will do that. Thank you!

Great image to Photogragh, I like the top one, but its slightly out of focus or blurred, the lower one is a better subject especially With the water droplet, but needs to be more of the star in the scene. Maybe crop the lower one to keep the viewer involved. it is definitely in focus and holds more detail.

#1 is the one I like best. Is this a cropped photo? Is it possible to get the rest of the rings in the top left? Just want to see if it makes a significant difference have the rings complete. As it is, the rings lead my eye out of the photo but I still think it's a strong photo. JUST MY OPINION!!!

Dodie

I agree. It's a superb photo on its own right... but a crop revealing the upper left would have strengthened it.

Neither. They both work well for different reasons.

I will consider that thought too. Thank you!

I'll be the contrarian here Linda. I like number 2 and for me it is no contest. The ripples around the leaf are wonderful. The overall composition is superior (IMO). And I like the pastel yellow color of the leaf against the almost black and white water.

#1 is a leaf on water, #2 is more about the reflections in the water. Both are moody and I would be proud of either or both.
