Number three could use just a little bit more detail in the highlights. Do that, and you will have achieved photographic perfection.

thanks!

just took these over the weekend on the Monterey Peninsula. Light house at Pacific Grove and the twisted tree is from the Ghost gove on 17-mile Drive.

Lovel these images, how you framed the lighthouse with the branches.

Thanks for the challenge. B&W is a super important skill to develop, and so enjoyable. Here's one of my attempts.

A couple B/W's. 2nd one was done in post processing. I think it would have been better if I had a brighter background.

Both very attractive Sharon!

Just want to say that I have been checking out the posts on B&W! It is wonderful to see the images! I will post a couple later today. I have not been able to go through all the pages yet and not sure if this suggestion has been made....I don't think I can post links on here but I was reading an article from the Digital Photography School site that I get email from once a week. It is definitely worth looking at. Anyway, it just happened to have an article on B/W photography this week! One of the things it mentioned was to turn the Monochrome setting on your camera. There is a link on how to do that. It lets you see (on the live view - not through the viewfinder) what the camera sees in B/W...thus lets you see how it will actually look. A lot of times we take the photo in color and switch it over in the processing/editing of our photos. (guilty as charged! LOL) Seeing it before hand you can decide if the scene works well at all in B/W and/or if you can make a few in camera adjustments to give it more contrast.
Anyway, hope this helps some.
Catch you all later!
Sharon

Thanks Karin for hosting this challenge. It should be interesting. I do have a few old photos from film (Tri-X or Plus-X) later converted/scanned to digital. Later, I can add some of my digital photos converted to B&W. These were mostly done about 50 years ago.

Very fine series!
