I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this, and especially interested if you have found a solution. Fuji's eyecups, at least on my X-H1 and X-T2, are pieces of rubber mounted on a two piece plastic frame. It is all too easy to pull the rubber from the frame, for example by putting the camera back in a bag or brushing it against your body while using it. When that happens there is usually enough damage to the soft rubber so that it is not very successful to try to remount the eyecup on its frame.

So...am I the only one with this problem (I doubt it!)? More important, has anyone discovered a solution, maybe a third party eyecup? I know JJC makes one, but I do not have any reason to assume it will be more durable than the OEM.

Thanks for reading and please do let me know your experience and/or thoughts.

I’ve used Fujifilm cameras from the X-T1 to my current X-T4 and have never had an eyecup come off or tear. How tight is your bag? I also use the larger optional eye cup on them. I can’t image what could cause that.

Ben, I didn't like the eyecups on my Fuji X cameras. I replaced them with these (link below). They slide into the flash mount and won't come off off unless you pull them out by hand.
A Big improvement over the original eyecups! I have one on my Fuji X-T30 and my X-S10.
They are made for different Fuji models, just do a search.

How would you use a flash that utilizes the mount? Remove the eye cup?

Yes. Doesn't bother me, as I never use on camera flash units.

It’s a standard size Domke.

Nikon D750 and D7200 do the same thing. I discovered (unfortunately!) that there are look alikes for sale inexpensively on line that are pure junk and not only won't stay on the camera, but are very fragile. The OEM, are not very secure, on a hot shoot I slip them in a shirt pocket, but they are sturdy & long lasting. I really don't miss them functionally when shooting. Good luck with It!

Let us know how that works out.

Sorry I never noticed that AI had reworded my earlier attempt to ask.

I haven't seen the eyecup you're using, but it sounds like the rubber part comes off the plastic part that mounts the assembly to the camera. If so, why not put a few dabs of silicone sealant (clear or black) at points around the perimeter of the rubber part that fits onto the mounting.

Stan

Silicone sealant is also what I was thinking. It should hold the eye cup in place for as long as you want, but you should be able to peel it off if neccesary.

I have a Fuji X-100F. I have not had that happen yet but it does look vulnerable. Say more easily ruined as you say than the cups or eyepieces on my Pentax bodies. You are asking about a real cup and not just a rubber rim?

Yes, a rubber rectangle on a plastic frame that slides down over the edges of the viewfinder.
