Was able to shoot the fawns of Shenandoah NP a few seasons ago. Mother Doe puts the little one down in early morning session for herself, and goes off to feed. It is VERY possible to put your foot down (while walking) and feel the "ground" move. You are actually stepping ON a small fawn who was told to STAY where it was by mom. My shooting partner and I both looked funny trying to stop a step as we were taking it. Neither of us fell but both came close. However, in the case of your baby moose, Ho, Ho, Ho, the Jolly Green Giant MAY be large enough to step on it? Nice collection of a mother and child. Your story has been told well. Some say that is a sign of success.

Yes, I was keeping an eye on her and baby. Baby started to come over to see me, he seemed very curious as I was the only one around. I was contemplating what to do if he kept coming my way! He finally stopped and decided I was scary or something!

I was in Yellowstone this winter sitting in a snow bank taking photos of a group of bison. Just enjoying watching them and sitting quietly. Then who knew bison could be so quite, but I see movement off to one side and 4 bison had snuck up behind and thankfully to one side of me! I turned and startled all of us! They just ran off to join the others I had been watching. They wanted no part of me which I was glad!
