1954 - One of my favorite albums - "Clifford Brown & Max Roach"

An album of fabulous compositions played by outstanding musicians.
https://youtu.be/GslhRUBgXNI

Clifford Brown (Trumpet)
Harold Land (Tenor Saxophone)
George Morrow (Bass)
Richie Powell (Piano)
Max Roach (Drums)

I can listen to Clifford Brown, ("Brownie") all day long. His phrasing, technique and artistry were amazing for such a young "dude".
Note: Clifford Brown & Richie Powell died in a car crash in 56' while driving to a gig. A great loss to the music world. Richie was the brother of Bud Powell.

Clifford and Max made beautiful music together. It s tragic when such a talented person is lost when their star is ascending. Love the album that you posted, Mark. Thanks.

Canonball's Quintet with his brother Nat on cornet was fantastic. I was privileged to catch several performances at Birdland.

Thanks,
Mark

I had the pleasure and honor of working with George Morrow in a strolling trio setting at Walt Disney World in the late 1970's, early 1980's. Really sweet, gentle, soft-spoken guy with, of course, the most amazing stories about his years in the business - especially his years with Charlie Parker. Only a small handful of musicians at Disney knew George's history and stature in the business.
