Oh you mean of same subject, same framing? I would rent if I have to a camera with deep buffer. Reduce size of image to save buffer. Shoot in manual with a few test shot first to check exposure, focusing etc.. The shoot in continuous (you can rent a camera that won't get the buffer filled especially in jpeg small). Monitor the light. If it changes stop shooting and readjust exposure.

Amen to every point.

I have never tried this but you may be able to use your cameras video mode and then you use software that allows you to do frame capture.

That would be post. Post is off the table (per OP). OTOH some newer cameras will deliver that sooc, no post needed.

For a large variety of trees and bushes look for an arboretum. It will have many different kinds and types of plants.

The assignment sounds candidly bizarre in trying to "burst" shoot plant photos.

I would go to as many nurseries as possible and take as many individual clean, clear sharp photos that you can. Maybe different angles of each plant. Offer to give photos of individual plants to the nursery owner/manager. I have done this and placed the photos on a DVD. It was greatly appreciated and I got to take photos willy-nilly in the nurseries.

If taking photos of plants, flowers etc. I want them to be absolutely clear and sharp with great color contrasts. This is one of my last ones.

This is definitely a challenge!

"...you just can't put the camera on continuous and fire away..." That was my thought. Although Continuous would get a lot of images quickly, the client wants them to be in focus, and moving the camera could cause blur. If it were me, I'd concentrate on quality more than speed. Sure, it would take longer, but I wouldn't have to delete half of what I'd taken. Continuous shooting would work, but it would have to be used moderately. This will need a bit of experimenting.

Working outside, the shutter speeds are in the 2000 range so no worries.

I know your questions pertained to methodology. However, it seems to me that your client has a pretty flaky idea - I think I'd ask for my money up front!

He paid half upfront

Allowing the camera to readjust exposure from frame to frame may very well bite you in the hindquarters. Sequences need a constant exposure.

BTW, what is this about the camera being in constant motion ? I must’ve missed something. Constant motion ?

Yes I put it in burst mode and pan across the subject so that each shot is slightly different. F11 helps keep it in focus. Program mode helps keep the exposure right and high ISO makes it so that if I get into a darker scene I can still get a proper exposure.

I went to a nearby arboretum/botanical garden. The variety was enormous.

Well the task here is speed. Gotta shoot bushes, plants, trees, landscapes, roofing, concrete, houses, drywall, many hundreds of shots each. Gotta be Lockett split to get it all done in a reasonable time frame.
