OK, OK, I'm sorry I posted the thing. A marine friend of mine sent it to me on face book and like a fool I took it at face value. My last post from face book.

It seems that lately when ever I post something people start lining up to take a shoot at what i posted and twist it around so it is entirely different meaning then what I meant it to be; not a fun site anymore. I think I'll take a vacation from it for a time.
You can find someone else to line up on.

How many times, though, have we seen the right to fly the flag limited by HOA's. So, my statement stands.

The right to fly the flag or what color you can paint your front door is guided by HOA guidelines and Covenants. These are all accessible if you did not make yourself aware of the restrictions how can you blame those elected by the owners to enforce the existing regulations? I also think there is a committee that arbitrates your disagreements.

I find it unlikely that his neighbors told him that. People all across the country have flag poles on their lawns. I had one for years until it broke. That paint job is going kill property values.

I used to live in the ranks of a HOA. What a bunch of dictators. I sold the house and moved far away. If he does live within a HOA we should be able to hear the stink where ever we are. I hope he doesn't 'cause he doesn't have a chance

That's got to be a nightmare. My only experience with that is from TV shows.

There are four ladders--two stepladders and the two extension ladders at the left.

Now that’s a statement!

If it's not mentioned in their gestapo rules, he'd be grandfathered in.

I would never, EVER, buy a house in a HOA neighborhood.

My parents bought a parcel of land right across from the high school where my Dad taught. It was on an 8 foot elevation and on a corner. After they built a house, my Dad put a flag pole on the elevated corner. At the top flew the American flag and just below it the M (Michigan) flag, both of which meant so much to him. He did 7 1/2 years active duty, from before the war until aferwards and finished his 20 in the Reserves. Michigan got him out of the coal mines because he could play football. He always said if it weren't for Michigan and football he would have been a coal miner. So hooray for the freedom to fly flags, wherever you are.

What bothers me is, why would ANY American be offended by their neighbor(s) flying the American flag as long as it was down before dusk if it wasn't lit up at night? I'm 78 and the sight of our flag has brought tears to my eyes since I learned the Pledge of Allegiance in kindergarten and I still can't get through America the Beautiful without choking up. I just thank God that, despite what has gone on in the past 40+ years, I haven't lost faith in my country and Constitution as have so many of the younger generations. The legal immigrants coming into this country, that I am acquainted with, have more patriotic feelings for the USA than a majority of the ones born here, and that is a sad state of affairs.

Good for him. As for up yours, like my wife tells me " up yours sideways and on fire " when she says that I know she is serious.

There’ll always be people who’ll take shots at what you post. Some people thrive on it😳 As for FB, there’s so much stuff out there you could make a career out of verifying it. Personally, I liked the post...even it turns out to be a bogus story. But then again, I’m an ex-Marine👍

The paint job may not be permanent for those who wondered about the effect on the property value.

The railway museum I belong to often rents time, trains and streetcars to the movie/TV industry.
One big move filmed partly at our museum was placed time-wise in the 30s and lots of trains and streetcars were part of it.
Most of the "rent" was in the form of restoration work on rolling stock. The movie people paid for the rather expensive preservative paint and painting the rail cars and a couple of street cars in their correct colors and then because the RR and Streetcar Lines in the movie had different company names they used basically "water color" paint to put a coat over the real paint and when the movie was done they hosed and scrubbed the water color off leaving the nice new coat of "real" paint.

The movie people got their trains and street cars with the right names and colors for the story. The museum got a whole train and some street cars and buildings around the museum (small station houses and loading platforms along the track etc.) painted - and a lot faster than our volunteers could have done the jobs working on weekends etc.
Then the museum even got some visitors who were fans of the movie showing up wanting to see the train cars etc. used in the movie.

A win-win for everyone all the way around including the City of Perris since the local motels, restaurants etc. got a lot of business from all those movie people for the duration of the filming sessions.
