Favorite photo spots in/around Breckenridge, CO

My first post here. As a flatlander headed to Breckenridge CO, I’d appreciate any suggestions as to favorite photo locations around there and any tips for shooting there.

Be sure to take the side trip to Leadville. The old town and mine are very interesting. There is a train that runs up there well worth the trip.

Great photo ops just on the curvy road getting there. Esp. in the fall with dustings of snow on the tall pines. Phantom Canyon road is also worth checking out.

Boreas Pass south of Breckenridge is a beautiful drive. Going to Leadville has already been mentioned but if you go there Turquoise Lake just west of Leadville has some beautiful scenery. It may be further south than you want to go but the summit of Cottonwood Pass west of Buena Vista is gorgeous. Just a few of the many great places in the area. Have a great trip.

Bugs

Keep your finger on the camera button trip over a rock, and you will get a wonderful picture anywhere. I lived there as a kid, when it was rotting and rusting away from neglect, unlike now. Cameron Pass is a place to check out, an old RR bed easily drivable for a flatlander! I lived in Breck/Dillon s a kid. A day trip to Climax/Leadville is very worth while. Tiger River still has an old gold dredge in the river. Go there, too, past the Tiger Run RV resort north of town.

Welcome, FiveJ. Just wanted to thank you for posting this. I am in the process of arraigning a Photo Safari of my own in Colorado in the Fall and Breckenridge is one of my stops, too.
