It feels a bit heavy to me...was wondering if any women find it too heavy?

It is heavier than any of the lesser models, due primarily to the magnesium framed body over the plastic framed body of Nikons introductory bodies. It is also a bit larger physically. But well worth the price and weight!

I saw it in Best Buy but it had one of those security things on it so I really couldn't get the feel of how heavy it is....

I use the d5100 now....I know I will not ever go to the bigger full frame camera's but I would like to get a 7000 from cameta camera $819.99 refurbished

Yes, it is heavier than some, but for good reason. You'll get used to it. Another idea, get an OP/Tech strap. It makes any camera feel lighter.

I have the Nikon D7000 and I love it so much (had D90) that I would lift weights to keep it! I have a Nikon 300mm lens on it, I do use a tripod a lot..but not always. I don't consider myself a very strong person. It's a great camera!

I have a D7000 and use it with a 120-400 lens without a tripod and I don't think it's heavy. It is lighter with a 105mm lens ,but it's comme ci comme ça really. It's a fantastic camera though and well worth some extra biceps.

A good friend of mine has one but she didn't like it with the grip. Too heavy with the grip for her.

Maybe you want a bridge camera - lots of features in a smaller, lightweight package. Even as a backup or always- carry-it, camera.
I guess you'll cross that bridge if it comes to that.

no bridge camera .....image quality is very important to me and I don't feel a bridge can compare to them!

This is a question I wanted to ask here, as I find those cameras extremely heavy especially as I have hand and wrist problems, causing me to not be able to hang on to really heavy or large objects.
I would love to upgrade to a 'proper' SLR but the weight issue is the thing that makes me hesitate to buy one.
