Adorama Printique. Excellent quality and service, many options to choose from, and the pricing is right. It's the only place I use now for printing.

I have used Shutterfly for several books...i have never been disappointed...i received one that had the corner damaged in shipping and they replaced it and told me to keep the other one...
my books have been their largest, hardcover, 111 pages, multiple photos per page. They would have cost somewhere near $300...I waited for a sale and got it for about $40 with free shipping...You can add narrative if you choose...On my photo books I don't put much in...

You can't beat Kramer's idea to make it big and have a set of legs fold out to form its own coffee table.

Based on your experience please offer any tips as to a good publisher/printer of good quality photo book. My goal is to have one done that looks nice and not overly expensive, so that it would appeal and be affordable to a wide range of folks.
Thanks in advance
If you use Lightroom, it has a book feature in it. It is also available as a stand alone. Not only is it good andeasy to use, it's cheap. I've used it several times.

Use Blurb for sure. They frequently have 40% off deals.
I have a Mixbook my kids got me. It’s of very high quality.
I have noticed that Blurb only works with 8-bit images. Do any of these other outfits work with 16-bit images?

I have had good results with Picaboo. Their paper is good quality and the pictures are sharp and well colored. The software is pretty intuitive and has lots of choices to make the book personal. They usually have coupons which make the book more affordable. Hope this helps.
Adorama ( now Printique ) was recently voted best photo book. The books are made from your actual photos ( with slightly thicker pages ) rather then printed on a press with screen dots throughout the pictures. They are nothing short of phenomenal. They are slightly more expensive ( aren’t your photos worth it ? ) They do have sales regularly.
Thanks to everyone that responded. I appreciate the leads
An update to above post : Adorama ( now Printique ) also has a user user friendly online layout.
thanks, that sounds interesting as a layout tool
I have done 2 with Blurb. Their printed color pages match the photos I sent them. 1 book was 242 pages with over 400 pictures. Paid about $180 for it, hard cover with dust jacket.
If you use Lightroom, Blurb is the easiest to use and has excellent quality. I've done several Blurb books, beautiful books and excellent quality. I have not price-compared, so I can't really help you on that part. One thing I love about using Blurb is it is so easy to upload the photos you want to use directly from my Lightroom library, and they are the original file sizes so versatile to use in whatever layout you choose. When I used other book companies, sometimes the file size of my chosen photo would not be large enough for a full-page or double-spread layout then I'd have to go back and find the photo in Lightroom and re-export it in a larger size. When I use Blurb, the photos come directly from Lightroom and are always the appropriate pixel size.
