Cheap gondola ride

A few years back my wife and I were in Venice. We took the "cheap" gondola ride. In other words we got on the vaporetto. Lucky to get a spot near the front and pick the right time of evening. Still has a little bit of the boat roof in the upper RH corner. I didn't want to crop any more. I think I can work it out with some post processing.

Beautiful. Didn’t notice the roof, but you pointed it out.

I think (what do I know) I would have cropped the photo a bit "tighter."

I think you are correct, especially on the left and maybe a bit of the top. When I was commenting on photo competitions, if the photo wasn't especially good I might say "if you crop about half of the left and about half off the right it just might improve this photo" 😁

Use a clone stamp tool to remove the roof part. I did that to remove a crane on a image taken from the Accademia bridge looking towards the Old Customs House and a large canvas print of that re-worked image has been hung on my wall for some years.
One of the most photogenic places I know. The Rialto bridge is wonderful, even more so when you read of it's construction.

from the Brittanica:
"The first bridge at that location, known as Ponte della Moneta, was a wooden pontoon bridge designed in 1178 by Nicolò Barattieri. The structure was rebuilt in 1255 and 1264 and, following a number of collapses, was eventually replaced by the Rialto Bridge to provide better access to Rialto, the primary financial centre of Venice. The bridge served as the only fixed structure crossing the canal until the 1850s; prior to that, pedestrian crossings at other locations were done by gondola ferries.
The Rialto Bridge consists of a single stone-arch span that supports a broad rectangular deck carrying two arcades of shops fronting on three roadways. The lower chord of the bridge is only 25 metres (83 feet) in length, while the width is 20 metres (66 feet). To support the wide stone arch in the soft alluvial soil, 6,000 timber piles were driven under each abutment, and the bed joints of the stones were placed perpendicular to the thrust of the arch."
