A lightbulb in a darkrooms? Aaaah, I knew I could wiggle this gem in. Ages ago my department only had windows in just part of the area so it was really dark when the lights were out. My boss at the time found these plug in emergency lights that automatically came on when the power went off (or unplugged if you needed a flashlight in a pinch). Anyway, he had the grand idea to put one in the darkrooms. We went round and round with a rather (ahem) lively discussion about it being a bad idea. It took way longer than it should have to convince him that if I was processing 4x5 racks it really wouldn't matter if the power was out (other than I'd be using my watch and internal clock) but it would matter if the light came on mid process to tell me the power was out. I finally won. Oh yeah, this was after the time he wanted engineering to paint the darkroom walls black because they were an off white. His answer was so it would be darker. I took him in, shut the door and turned off the lights and asked him did he think the walls would be any darker than this? That was one of my easier battles. Fun times..

It is amazing how some people lack even the most basic of logical thinking!

Or analytical and deductive reasoning skills.

Even if the bulb still works, buy the latest and greatest to satisfy the GAS syndrome.

Meditate and distill Truth from the Confusion.

I think the number depends on the brand of equipment they use. Canon - untold numbers and Sony, just one!

Advice is very often the advisor's opinion, and we all know about opinions.

But when you seek advice aren’t you hoping for an informed opinion? It is the informed part that is rare.

It takes 100...one the change the bulb and ninety nine to tell you how they would make it better.

That is why one should take advice with a grain of salt or ignore it altogether...especially if you didn't ask for it.

I believe in the Pareto Principle (80/20 rule). About 20% of the advice may have some merit. The rest is hearsay, innuendo, filler, puffery, misleading, irrelevant, or downright wrong. We are each capable of contributing to either group of answers.
