Gary, he looks like a very nice snake. I don't like to be surprised by snakes but otherwise I like the non venomous ones. If he is a racer, beware. They can be aggressive. I was chased by one many years ago.
Better alert the Anole to watch out.

Great find and it surely looks like black southern racer which is harmless and very beneficial in controlling vermin and other unwanted critters around your yard. I hope that the two of you can live in harmony for if it is there it means that it is finding a source of food (controlling them for you) and when it's supply is exhausted it will move on.

In my yard it's frogs and lizards that the snakes go after. I can live with them all. Florida does have venomous snakes but I have never seen one in my yard.
