I saw this on the earthsky website thought it would be of interest to some.

Photographers notes. Steve Browne
While shooting the Milky Way at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse the Chinese Long March 5 rocket booster, which had earlier in the evening re-entered Earth's atmosphere, streaked by overhead. It was easily visible to the naked eye. The rocket body could be seen glowing red with a long, wide tail

Actually, she didn't take that photo.

It was taken by Steve Browne and displayed on the Earthsky website, where Samantha30 apparently downloaded it to repost here.

People fail to read the comments it seems. I always give credit to the photographer when I post if it isn't mine.

Hi Samantha - my sincere apologies. I did not read your narrative properly. That picture had captured my mind first. Again - my apologies. Thanks for providing the opportunity for us to view the pic. Delderby.

Samantha didn't say that she did take it and she did credit Steve Browne with taking of it in her explanation. (My bad. I wrote this before I finished reading all of the comments. As Roseanne RosannaDana said, "never mind".)

I believe the photos was done with two or three photos layering one over others.

Interesting - what in the pic gives a clue to your theory?

Interesting. I would have thought the trail of the burning rocket at the altitude of re-entry at that point would have been much smaller and narrower.

Ah, but hadn't the rocket entered the atmosphere earlier? I imagined that what was in the photo was almost the end of the re-entry journey.
