Fantastic capture series! Snakes can dislocate their jaws to swallow whole their prey.

This whole process took about half an hour. I did not think a snake that size in diameter would be able to consume a frog that size.
Fantastic set of images!!!! John
What kind of snake is that ?
Is it belching in the last photo? Great set.

I'm told it is a Garter snake
The coloring and patterns do look like a coast garter snake.

We have a "Butler's Garter Snake" like this that lives in our yard that's been here a few years now. They help keep the rodents and insects under control so it is welcome to live here.
Ran across this same thing on a creek in the Missouri Ozarks many years ago. The frog was making a lot of noise and this went on for over an hour before the snake got it down and the noise stopped.
Patience is required by both the snake and photographer. Great series
Very interesting sequence. Bev
