When I right click on the windows start icon and select "search" and enter a item to search, the header on the popup menu has these items to chose from: ALL APPS Documents WEB and MORE". ALL is underlined which I interpret as searching all the categorizes. My machine with ALL selected will not search in the DOCUMENTS for some reason and the file I am searching for does not show up. If I click on Documents, it underlines DOCUMENTS and will show the file I am looking for. Is there something in the setups that will search all the categories including DOCUMENTS when ALL is selected/underlined? This use to work before and just recently started acting up like this.
Thanks in advance

Let me suggest a different approach. Download a (free) copy of Search Everything - much more powerful and faster than Windows search engine. I find it’s probably my most used utility.
May be old school but I still use Google for searching the net but if I'm looking for something local Apple Finder works great!

Apple Finder, on a Widows 10 machine? LOL

Skip the Widows 8 (phone-like) features in Win 10, set it up to run like Windows 7. I customized my Windows 10 to look and run like Windows 7. It makes a lot more sense that way and is easier to use for a long term Windows user. What you describe sounds like an issue, mine does not do that it will indicate resources on line, on the PC, and in my files. I only run it that way when I don't know what to do. Normally I run the program or app I need directly or go to my files in my Windows File Explorer. The Run or Start is more for then you need help.

He's likely looking for a file on his system, not data on the internet; Google may not be able to help him. The everything link appears to be an excellent file.

Open Documents and use the "Search Documents" bar that has the little magnifying glass on the left side.
Yes, and you can use the old DOS shortcuts, with this search. Search is not very selective and you can use it for searching for text within a document. There are just better methods like the 'Search Everything' app noted above.
This is true, I'm looking for a word document that I KNOW is in my Document Folder. The search should find it with ALL selected but it does not. Only when I select DOCUMENT does the search find the file I'm looking for.

Sounds interesting. Do you have an URL for the app?

Wow! I absolutely hate WIN 10. Please point me to where I can learn to
make 10 look like 7.
Is it reversible? 7 back to 10?
Thanks very much.
