Will do. Am long ways away from computer but remember uploading some shots in uhh a while back.

By the way, showing you my product has nothing to do with the validity of my logic. I could just be a crappy photog but the regimen might work for some. Let me see if I can find something to assuage your concerns.

I’m no where near my computer for a few days. In THINK the bush baby in this set was a pre select for lower light using a flash. I usually have one for night time. Was lucky. Saw it in a tree and fired off a few shots. I recall having a preset for long telephoto as well. The zebra were hand held at 400 mm (800 FF equivalent) so the shutter speed has to be high. It was an obvious situation to have a preset in Africa. If not later I will post a shot of some cheetahs running at a conservation thing in Namibia and some might stuff in the dessert. Most stuff was in Aperture mode as I recall. Also, raw saved me on the little boy shot. I was totally goofed up on my settings. It works for me and was a friendly suggestion to those who can use it. I don’t claim to be a good photog. Where I make up for lack of talent is effort and attitude. After all, it is a hobby for fun. If it is not worth your time, reject it!

The jist of this Raw and Manual discussion is that if you don't use raw and manual you are a terrible photographer!
lol

don't think that's true . if Ur not willing to learn that makes U stand still & who is to tell U that Ur bad , if so just try harder & study light & composition . This is photography not brain surgery!

I shoot RAW and Aperture priority most of the time. Night photography and some macro photography is in manual mode. ISO is adjusted so that an appropriate shutter speed can be used. There is nothing holy about manual mode. It can be used much like I used the match needle system in my 1960's SLR. RAW is similar to a negative and offers the most flexibility in post.

This would appear to be a good example of a "non sequitur".....🙄

For static (non-moving) pix I use Manual and RAW, for dynamic motion I use Aperture priority and Raw.

There is no doubt these are nice pictures. I wish you had some with the animals in motion with more challenging conditions. Static photos are easier. You obviously have great equipment. Like to see you use it in difficult and motion like conditions. The product is sometimes more about the Indian than the arrow.

Folks are too interested in what everyone else is doing or not doing. If your camera has all the options- Jpeg, Raw and several automatic exposure options, consider that there is time and a place for all of them. As most folks know, RAW enables more post-processing options so If you feel that you are gonna require maximized correctional abilities, by all means, shoot in RAW. The photographer's ability to make MANUAL camera adjustments in limited time frames, such as sports action shots, will determine the need for automatic or programmed exposure control.

As for myself, I've been shooting professionally for years and have no issues with exposure control, however, for me SOOTC is not an EGO issue. I use whatever, mode is needed to get the job done efficiently. The client doesn't care HOW I made the shots as long as they are good and he or she receives them on time.

So many folks are way too preoccupied with microscopic technicalities. They engage in endless arguments on topics that would only be important, significant, or understandable to a computer, optical, mechanical engineer or scientist. Some of this is taking away from their artistry and joy of photography. Perhaps we need a special section here for the extremely drilled-down high-tech subject matter.

For me, raw + jpeg. Mostly shutter priority but sometimes every mode (even on the same shoot, if time permits)
