Bur Clover as seen using a Dino-Lite

Not sure if Dino-Lite fits into the definition of "True Macro-Photography" or not, but it certainly can get in close.

See: https://www.dino-lite.com/

As a boy, I grew up in Pennsylvania, and I remember laying in the lawn looking for 4 leaf clovers.

Now, in California, everything is more hardy to survive the more arid and hot climate. And I guess that includes the clover also. Out here, we call it Bur Clover since in grows tiny little burs that eventually turn brown and then stick to the dog and brought into the house.

These little burs are no more than 5mm in diameter. Upon looking close at them, I discover that they don't look anything like I though they were going to look. Here is from a stack of 22 combined in Helicon to produce this image.

Dino-Lite makes many models of these cameras, and there are models with greater magnification than the one I have. This one can increase its magnification to achieve a field of view of 2mm. The 2nd image shows a couple markers on a metric ruler with lines 1mm apart at max magnification.

Looks like it should be able to capture "True Macro". Do you know the sensor width?

I haven't been able to find the sensor size on the internet. I'm sure it is very small.

I picked some tiny little flowers, about 2 or 3mm in size, and took a look with the Dino-Lite, and found little yellow aphids running around on the stems. They were moving around so fast that it was difficult to focus and shoot before they were somewhere else and out of focus.

Second image shows another type of insect under one of these tiny flowers. It was also moving around.

Third image shows yet two more that look even different.

All of these were found on a tiny little bunch of flowers half the size of my thumb.

I didn't try focus stacking because they never stood still. Always moving.

A herd of aphids that took over an unopened rose bud. They weren't moving, so this is a stack.

That looks like a lot of fun! Is the cable on the device a USB cable that goes to a computer / laptop?
Quite interesting. The sensor size cannot be large, and they go to 5MP. But even enlarged the images are quite acceptable on the screen. Well done!

Appears to be an enjoyable tool-of-the-trade. I look forward to seeing more.

Yes, there is a USB cable that is the only connection to a laptop. Extremely easy to use. I bought it with the stand and focus mechanism so that it provides a knob for focusing like a microscope. Capable to single shots or movies. Can click the shutter on the laptop so that the camera isn't jiggled. And it has a ring of LED lights around the objective for lighting.

I have several 1:1 macro lenses, but this Dino-Lite camera provides greater magnification. The resolution is only 1280 x 1024, but the SW does a 2x resizing. Stacking works well with the images. Topaz Sharpen AI also works well with the images too. And it is so easy to set up.

Lots of fun.

Next, I will introduce it to my grandchildren and I'm sure they will find lots of things to look at.
