Excellent Douglass. I think the square works really well. Makes a much more "personal" photo.
You're right about #3 Dutchbug, sometimes we're just lucky to "get what we get"!

Danilo, yes Douglas did an excellent job on both of those pics. I am rarely lucky with those shots, so I take what I can when I can!

I took these yesterday of my granddaughter out at Oak Glen. I don't have Photo Shop. Any suggestions welcomed!! Oh...yes her hair should have been brushed but we had spent all day at the Apple Festival and I didn't have a brush...LOL

i have never used photoshop & never will (your pics are ok)

Yeah, who wants to learn how to fix a bad exposure and save an otherwise cute "once in a lifetime" shot of one's granddaughter. Why waste money and time on something a stupid as Photoshop, when there is pint waiting at the local pub!
quote=briace quote=Dutchbug I took these yesterd... (show quote)

Another Wow! You make an over exposed picture look amazing!! Thank You!! I need to learn so much!!

Nikonian has it correct . Do not worry about brushed hair etc ...nothing is more natural than active children with flying hair .

She reminds me a lot of my eight year old granddaughter. You did a good job of getting her to pose. She is very pretty.

Thank you! She is 6 years old. Actually I didn't ask her to pose. We were walking by that doorway and I asked if she would sit down for a minute and let me take a couple of pictures, I think she let me take 4...LOL..and we were off to continue our site seeing with the rest of the family..LOL

I also like this square crop.

I like both versions of the cropping, Nikonian, but the square is my favorite! Dutchbug, you took a really nice sharp photo that enabled it to be cropped so beautifully. I love my D5100!

Thank You Mgstrawn!! Nikonian did do a great job cropping them, I was very excited to see his outcome! I just recently went from an Olympus Pen EP1 to the D5100, what a difference...LOL..so much to learn, I am going to try the daily challenge after work...LOL..I have been focusing on the manual setting so this will be fun and different!

[Sometimes over exposure can help hide background detail and adding a little warmth can make the subject pop.

Hi Dutchbug! #2 is overexposed, but that's how we learn!
I really like #3, but I wish her left hand were showing.
Thanks for sharing!

I agree, #2 is the better, but you need the rest of the arm/hand.
