Unfortunately, this forum doesn't have a feature for taking a poll, so this will have to do.

Do you subscribe to Adobe or do use use alternate programs? So, the choice is simple:

Subscribe

Don't subscribe.

Subscribe to all Adobe Cloud products and those for the iPad. (awesome)

I apologize if that came across as rude. One day I will learn the lesson of never trying to be facetious, humorous, sarcastic or light hearted in a reply on a public forum. Even emojis fall short.

In this case, the topic was about who uses what. The reply triggered a pavlovian response from by bias toward what I belief to be a great product at a cheap price.

"Never have, never will." resonated in a way that suggested (to me) Adobe subscribers were, somehow, suckers.

Again, I apologize to you sir. Our world has become so deeply divided over everything, it is silly to be divided over photo processing programs.

The new me, will be more pleasant, less divisive, prone to more words and use of emojis as insurance against any misinterpretation

I understand, Bill. Thanks.

I thought "never have, never will" was a simple answer to a simple question. I know that saying anything against Adobe bothers people, but I didn't think my response was provocative. There are many people who do fantastic work with Adobe products and are perfectly happy with Adobe's business practices. I understand that for some work in some fields using PS is mandatory. That is fine. I would never criticize anyone for that. But must we love all things Adobe? Must we all be of one mind on the subject? There is far more bias against anyone who criticized Adobe than there ever is against those who praise Adobe, in my experience. We aren't called "suckers" we are called cheap and stupid and told we are not serious about photography.

As I have said here before I was in Ann Arbor when the original PS program was being developed, met the developer and knew the first people to use it. I don't approve of Adobe's business practices. That goes beyond objecting to the subscription model and beyond PS and LR. Rather than get onto all of that, which would be controversial of course, I kept it short and sweet.

"Our world has become so deeply divided over everything..."

That it has.

I might be wrong, but I think bsprague was being sarcastic about the high cost of the weak program.

No question about that.

This happened many years ago, now. The package was a few years old when I bought it, and the price on Ebay was about 20% of the retail price at the time. After Adobe responded they would no longer authorize that version, I took it as a reminder to Caveat Emptor: it was too cheap for a reason....

Thank you for the additional info.

I can understand why you feel that way, but for me, it's neither "so much money," nor a "weak" program. I generally dislike subscriptions of any type, but 17.00 a mo. for up-to-date Lr + Ps (never could afford it pre-cloud) + others, plus a TB of storage, actually saves me a bunch of dough... with all due respect.

$17/mo ?? I'm only paying 10/mo. For 6 years now.

EDIT:
Sorry. I was confused I thought you were complaining about the high cost. I see you are saying it is a good deal.

Personally I don't think you needed to apologize because I totally understood the irony.

One or two didn't. Even wen speaking face to face humor does not always translate.

But it is good you did apologize as I know you did not intend to offend. I don't like rudeness. Sometimes I will intentionally offend someone who is rude. I shouldn't do that because it's a knee jerk reaction then I am upset with myself for letting someone else affect my behavior. For me, being mindful and pausing before speaking (tying) can me help avoid that.

For what it is worth I did not think his response was suggesting that.

Whether or not people think Adobe subscription is a good deal is very subjective because different people put value in different things.

Obviously many Adobe users (including me) think it is a great deal as is evidenced by the response of the customers and the revenue generated by the subscription model.

Hey Bsprague how about if you go through 18 pages and tally the answers and publish that here? I think that will tell you lots of people like the Adobe products.

And if someone doesn't like them so what? They can use something else. Competition is good for consumers, it makes companies try hard to create products we like. Viva la Competition!!

I understood, or so I thought. I wondered why Bill was being rude. He explained that he thought there was an implied criticism in my remarks. I can see that.

What do you think the irony is that other did not understand? (Serious question, not trying to start a fight.)

Now, is that irony? Sarcasm? Rudeness?

I answered the question in a few words. I am not the one knocking the tread off topic.

I think the $17 a month was the package that also includes a terabyte of storage not just the PS and LR photography package. I too have only been paying the $10 a month as I use backup drives instead of the cloud storage from Adobe.

"Hey Bsprague how about if you go through 18 pages and tally the answers and publish that here?"

I tried to do that with the topic I started, "Another Adobe Poll" where I was trying to see how many go beyond a single program or feature. It was too much work sitting still that long!
