I have both of these lens. It would be hard to choose between them. The 75 to 300 is a good birding and wildlife lens which is what I mostly use it for. The 60mm is an awesome lens as well. It has a 2.8 apature and weather sealed. On the newer cameras, you can also do in camera bracketing with the 60 but not the 75 to 300. You have the 14 to 150 which is what generally stays on my camera as well. Unless you need the reach, I would go with 60mm.

I have a choice of two lenses to buy for my Olympus Pen Lite E-PL5 - both around the $300Aus 2nd hand and I can only afford one of them!!
1. Olympus 75-300mm 1:4.8-6.7
2. Olympus 60mm f2.8 macro.
I already have a 14-42 kit lens on the E-PL5 - its OK but not used much as I have a better 14-150mm on my E-M5 Mk2 which I use a lot. I don't like changing lenses which is why I like the 14-150.
I do a lot of seascapes/landscapes, ships, yachts, planes, some macro of flowers and rarely birds or animals. Very occasional moon shots.

Just wondering which lens experienced M4/3 hoggers would choose.

Don’t buy a lens just to buy a lens. Buy a lens to fill a need that the lenses you already have can’t fill.

I have both and use the 75-300 perhaps 3 X as many times as the 60mm f2.8

I have the 75-300. I use it rarely, but when I do, nothing else I own would do the job. It's a nice lens. I don't have the by 60mm macro, but if shooting flowers and other closeups, I'd choose it in a minute. I realize that I haven't answered your question. I think it depends too much on your own style and shooting priorities. Do you need more reach or better close-up performance?

I'd recommend the 75-300mm for the Moon shots as well as occasional animal/bird images. As for your macro needs, you can get pretty close with that 14-42mm kit lens, which is pretty decent lens on it's own. BUT!, to expand its capability you can obtain a macro attachment from Olympus, that will fit that lens, for about $70. It really works.., I have one and used it on my E-PL5. Check out the site below, and maybe I've saved you some money.

The 75 to 300mm zoom definitely. I own this lens and can vouch for its quality. If you want a macro lens, the 30mm f3.5 is smaller, lighter, more compact, and a better value.

The 60 f2.8 is a good macro lens, but the 75-300 will offer you more use especially with the subjects you have mentioned. There are extension tubes for getting closer at this time. The new 100 f2 (?) Pro IS lens will be coming out either later this year or next. While it will be expensive, the IS will be worth it.

The 60 mm macro is outstanding. If you take macro pictures you might wonder how you got along without ti.

Based upon what you shoot, you don't need a macro lens. But you do need a telephoto lens.

Its a tough choice! The zoom lens extends the capabilities you already have, while the macro opens new areas while also being of is of some use as a portrait and general walking around purpose lens. That 60mm is one of the sharpest lenses out there, btw.
The macro will take you into new directions and provide a unique perspective on things. If new directions attracts you, then your choice is clear.
If you think you have more to do with a zoom lens, but have been frustrated by the reach of your existing lens, then your choice is clear.
If both of these perspectives apply, well... actually there are fully manual macros that are also quite good, and cost a lot less than the 60mm. But they are fully manual.

I find that I use the the 75-300ii all the time. Do some review reading. The general consensus is that the lens can be somewhat soft at the 300mm range. Many users feel that some of the issue is user error. Others limit the lens to approximately 250mm.
