I would ask for a new camera or at least a factory repair .

My old Canon 20D collected may spots thatlooked like yours .
Blowing air clears some of the dust not all.

If you did not cause the problem I would return the camera ASAP

i am appreciative to everyone for your valuable input - your advice is what makes UHH indispensable to me. I have attached the image of the spot which hopefully made it through in full scale now. The spot in the attached image is more distinct in some images, less in others, which, as I have learned, is due to me changing f-stops. This spot is of roughly average intensity.

As a result of what I have learned, I am sending the camera back and already have a RMA number.

Why should each of us know everything?
I've had a lot of "simple" stuff explained to me.
Yea, maybe I should have known that, but I didn't.
Now I do.

Ask away.
Helpful people will answer, simply ignore snarky people.

Good answer. Every single one of us had to ask those simple questions at one point. Most people are very glad to help. I have noticed most people here at UHH are very kind and helpful. Like he said, don't worry about the few that are snarky.

That would bother me to no end. I'd return.

It looks like you have two "spots" on the image. The second "spot" is slightly above the one you note and slightly to the right. But it does not appear on the second photo when I download it.

Then it could be my eyes or a smudge on my monitor.
