well once I here to get help. I've downloaded Digicamcontrol (I have Nikon camera ) this software list my models as working along with many other makes of cameras, it's a free program and I like it
BUT can't seem to make it work.
has anyone used this software OR can I get someone to look at it

I think that Nikon has a new, free application for that - Perhaps check their site and see if the Nikon version works...

I am using version V2.1.2.0 it works fine with my Nikon D500.

I use the Snapbridge app from Nikon on my D500 and it works well.

I've used Digicam many times with my nikon d3300, never had any issues other than a resource hog, either via wireless or wired connection.

For a free program it’s very comprehensive, I use it. Best suggestion, YouTube videos and user manual. Once figured out you’ll love it.

I have used it alot really liked it but stopped using because it was not wireless. But really liked it but the first time I used it it would not work I had to update I believe it was the latest Codex files for Win 7, I can't even remember where or how but when that was done it worked great. I used it with Nikon D600
