The family decided to get out on a magnificent late winter day and take in some fresh air at an alligator sanctuary not far from our house. Being that it was mid day the light wasn't cooperating much so most of the photos I grabbed will stay in the archives for posterity sake and not much more.

Very nice shot but as far as Apex Predator they may be loosing their standing to the Burmese Python. I hope not.

Thanks much! The Python is wreaking havoc for sure, but I think they are more of a nuisance to the ecosystem as opposed to a true predator to the alligator...WE HOPE

Well done, Tony!
Thanks Mike! I had to shake it up a bit and keep you on your toes
Wow....great image. Yes there is some beauty there.
Fine shot! Glad it is too cold for them here.
I have taken a camera mid-day to locations with lots of water and kicked myself for not bringing a polarizing filter. Not sure if this was a problem you were dealing with, but we all get a little bit better as we run into problems and figure out the solutions. BTW, I was not aware that gators needed a sanctuary. Here in SW Florida, they pretty much have the run of the place!

Nice shot man. It brings back memories. At Fort Stewart, Georgia I was standing at the edge of a pond in the field and a gator swam right up at my feet and stuck its eyes up out of the water and looked me over. They are not to be messed with.
