No idea. I've never heard of the lock switch coming off before. Looking forward to seeing if anyone else here knows what to do.

The switch is just a bit of plastic that does nothing to the card, cover with duck tape

It should have a lifetime warranty, so send it back

If you do poke something in the card , I'd make sure it wasn't metal . Less chance shorting card...

Omnila, For cryin out loud, just toss the broken card and buy a new one. Amazon has top of the line Sandisk 16 GB SD cards on sale right now for $11.26. What ever you do, don't put any tape on the card and then insert it into your camera. Just imagine what you'll have to go through if/when the tape comes off inside the card slot.

I agree. While it was in the card slot, I had a tiny piece break off the card and become lodged in the slot. The camera could not be used until it was removed. Fortunately, my camera-guru friend was able to remove the piece without damaging the camera. I say pitch the card and be thankful it didn't damage the camera.

Don't worry about the photo's buy a new one, there is software available to recover the data. As for locked have you tried it in your computer? Locked I think only refers to adding more but that I could be wrong about. But it's not a loss,

Stick it into a card reader and move the photos to a computer!
The lock only prevents RECORDING new files or CHANGING the existing ones.
