Jim, Thank you very much!!!!!
Yes, these are beautiful photos resulting from Hot Texas testing his Lens Baby Velvet... but in my mind is Lens Baby an illusion we share... The description is vague..."Lensbaby’s Velvet effect lenses add an ethereal mood to scenes. This unique, in-camera creative effect elevates imagery with depth, dimension and soulful expression. "
https://www.canonrumors.com/lensbaby-announces-the-velvet-28-lens/I am open to specifics... just what is the detail of the Lensbaby Velvet Effect that I can not get with older low cost lenses that had poor edge definition? Yes, I understand tilt focus effects introduced by Lensbaby but this is not tilt shift which is a definable optics.

Yes, This effect can be achieved in many other ways - My Minolta 58mm F1.4 PF ROKKOR (from the late 1960s) is an example. However, gear acquisition afflicts many - I also have a Lens Baby. The Original flexible 2.0.

Hay dpullum, Thank you very much, I have many lenses to compare to the Lensbaby, such as the Minolta 50mm 1.4, Minolta 58mm 1.4 and 1.2 and another favorite the Helios 44-2 58 mm f/2 M42, What I'm finding is the Lensbaby is a more one-of-a-kind design, that can be a macro without extension tubes, super soft dreamy look or stepped down to a very sharp image, I don't think The Velvet 56 is going to appeal to every photographer, but to someone like me that mostly stay home and shoot flowers out of my or 5 acers of wild flowers and poppies, I think I very much will enjoy this lens. Only time will tell come on spring
Thank you so much yorkiebyte, I will get better.

I also have the Minolta 58mm F1.4 PF ROKKOR, I have loved this lens for years, The only other Lensbaby lens I had was the Sol 45.
