Here are a few more shots from one of the water obstacles of the "Marathon" event. There were several classes of competitors from novice to expert and from one horse to 4 horses (4 in hand) (I'm learning). It was fun and interesting to watch the competition but clearly more exciting to watch the better competitors and the 4 in hand class (of which there were only two competitors). The horses seem to know what's going on and clearly some were leaning into the turns much more than others; of course that could be a function of their speed and the drivers guidance but the horses too have ratings. You might also notice that there are both men & women competing.

Great series of action shots Howard! The last shot reminds me of the chuckwagon races at the Calgary
Stampede. Love the expression on the driver's face.
Wonderful! Is there a purpose for the extra person in the back?

They lean out one side or the other to help prevent the wagon from tipping over on the relatively sharp turns.
To see additional photos, go to Photographer52.com > Browse to Equestrian Venues > Grand Oaks Marathon; you'll see some leaning.
Great shots of impressive horses and some high-tech buggies. Thanks for sharing - please stay safe.
These are great shots. I'd love to find that sport somewhere near here!
Interesting set of great images. Love the folks hanging out the side for stability. Sailors call those folks "rail meat".
Cool set. never seen anything like this before.
