Happens a lot here with all the carriers. Sometimes the image is not your front door. We regularly see posts on the Community facebook page asking if anyone knows so and so as we've a package for him / her left by a carrier (not necessarily Amazon) for any online delivery.

Yes, all the time. UPS has adopted the same system. It works!

Yes, I've had pictures sent telling me a package was delivered. Fortunately, our front entrance isn't visible from the road, so porch pirates, unless they come up the curved sidewalk, haven't a clue that anything
has been left at the entrance.

I make the delivery service do the call chaining and tracking of the package. I didn't pay them to delivery it to a mystery house, therefore they are on the hook for finding it, or working with the retailer to have it replaced.

Unless (LOL): It's my next door neighbors, but the few of us in the cul-de-sac are really good about looking out for each other, and if mail gets mixed up, we usually are proactive about getting it to the correct person.
I make the delivery service do the call chaining a... (show quote)

When Amazon first started delivering with their own vans, I received a notification that a package had been delivered. Went out to look; no sign of it. The van was still in the street, so I grabbed the driver and asked where my package was. He claimed that he had delivered it... I stood there and made him go around looking, and he eventually found it at a house across the street. That happens to be my landlady, so I would certainly have gotten it eventually! Anyway, when the email with the photo arrived, you could see the house number clearly in the picture, and it clearly wasn't my address...

I had so many issues with their delivery vans, it prompted me to install cameras to monitor the porch and the approach.

UPS drivers tend to drop packages outside my porch, literally 2 steps from the sidewalk. I printed out a big sign asking that they place all packages inside the porch. I had one delivery with a photo which showed the package outside, and also showed the sign! *sigh*

Years ago when we lived in the hills of Vermont, we put a very large wooden box with hinged lid at the bottom of our inclined 600' driveway so that UPS or FEDEX could put their deliveries in case they didn't want to chance coming up the driveway in the winter months. This worked well until I had ordered the desktop Lenovo computer I presently use, plus a CRT monitor as the flatscreens were way out of my pocketbook at that time.
I walked down the driveway and there, sitting OUTSIDE the wood box, in the snow, was the computer and monitor delivered by UPS. No excuse for that as the wood box was at least 25 cubic feet inside. Many times they wouldn't even come up into our area and would call telling me they'd left a delivery 7-8 miles away at the gas station/grocery store. When conditions were really bad I didn't mind as I knew UPS did not have 4-wheel or AWD vehicles, but FEDEX did and one of their drivers, with a distinct Brooklyn accent wouldn't come up our driveway. The funny thing is that the girl who replaced him had no problem coming up in any weather and even brought treats for our horses who ran to the fence as soon as they recognized the sound of her truck. Some drivers are just great and others,........meh.

We often get amazon packages that are delivered by the USPS and a new delivery person has started leaving packages on the ground under the mailbox or leaning up against a tree with no notice of delivery at all. So far we have been lucky and found them before someone else grabs them but this really upsets me. Prior delivery person would drive up our driveway and put packages in a box on our porch marked for this purpose so our dogs don't eat them.

The first order left Vegas and went to Utah. It was supposed to come to Lake Havasu Arizona. A picture would have sent me on a never ending journey.

Yes. All the time. And my video doorbell lets me see the delivery person taking the photo. Sweet.

Always, the the emails are received almost instantly. Often my dog or I don't hear the delivery but it shows up on email and it's always there.

I see that regularly here in California. I'm sure it is a way of protecting the delivery folks by offering "proof of delivery" . I like it a lot.

Doesn't give proof of delivery at all. How hard is it to imagine, placing the package on your porch, taking a picture of it and then the delivery person stealing the package before returning to their vehicle.

the problem with email notification is when they drop off the package at the wrong house and message “Item Delivered”. You still need to scour the neighborhood to find your package. I’ve never been a victim of “porch piracy”, but it is still a PITA to have to call your neighbors to see if they inadvertently received your package. I think all delivery services should follow the lead of Amazon and equip their drivers with a camera to send proof of delivery to your house.

The delivery person can take a picture on your porch and still walk off with the package. Proves nothing.
