Epic series Jules... fabulous pivotal moments...
Especially with a D7100 and it's limited buffer...
The best I could squeeze out of mine was 5 frames before it choked on 14 bit RAW
It would begin writing to the card in less than one second...
Painfully slow. Nikon Claimed 6 frames albeit I never saw that.
The D7200 fixed that with 18 frames of 14 bit RAW... a two and a half second burst! that works :)

Thinking you noticed a huge difference with your stellar D4...
Its buffer never seems to end, albeit Nikon does rate it at 75...
One second burst with a D7100 and almost a 10 second burst with a D4.
A full order of magnitude increase...

Keep them coming Jules... you are truly a master of your craft...
And your AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 paid the bills here!

Thanks as usual Thomas for looking and commenting. I like my D500 better in low light than the D4. Good camera in many ways, but for sports I love the 500. I might be looking at another 500 when I start shooting again. I hope in a month or so, maybe catch the baseball, softball, and track season. The 500 has about 235,000 clicks on that bad boy.

Be safe and be well my friend.
