My interpretation of street is photographing people in a public place with or with out their knowledge. Another question that can lead to a lot of discussion is, "Do all Street photographs have to include people?". I don't think there's a correct answer, It's someone unique vision of the world in a public place.

Agreed that not all "street photography" needs to include people.....or streets. But one or the other at least?
