According to this story on CNN Parler is only using the Russian firm to stop future Ddos attacks.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technolog/how-parler-is-trying-to-get-back-online/ar-BB1cTMe8?civicscience-widget-version=4&ocid=uxbndlbingAnd parler is hardly back online. They have one page and are providing no services. DDoa-guard denies that they are hosting parler. Other news stories say that Parler is being hosted by Epic which is headquartered in Washington D.C. Epic also denies that.
However, even if it is true, what do you expect Parler to do, they obviously want to stay in business and big tech is trying to stop them. If you were trying to keep a business open wouldn't you use whatever company helped you stay open?

I think it's kind of parler to gather all the extremists into a single site... much easier to monitor the crazies that way.
The extremists who complain about infringement of their rights are the ones most responsible for the existential threat to them. The insurrectionists who tried to stop the confirmation of Biden's win were manipulated by the lies spread on the web sites like parler. If they wanted to stay in business they have to be PFS to seek Russian assistance for a business like theirs.

According to the news stories I saw last night most of the planning was done on facebook, not Parler.
And, all censorship is bad. For the left to say otherwise flies in the face of everything the left claims to stand for.

Is everything binary for you? Yes/no, 0/1, up/down? I'm not an ideologue I am just an ordinary citizen who is incensed over what I've seen happen in DC and looking for a way to bring this monstrosity to justice. Qanon and the like are hotbeds for tribalism.
Here's a thought. A law was passed essentially prohibiting web sites like Craigslist from accepting sex ads. This was the result of the so called "Craigslist Killer". The site can choose to continue to run sex ads but if doing so results in the means by which a murderer meets a victim, the web site can be held responsible. Make websites that push conspiracy lies held responsible if a felony regarding planning is linked to it. Think Qanon and "pizzagate". I'm not a lawyer; let them hammer out the details - such as requiring web sites maintain backup copies backup of online exchanges for a year for access by law authorities with a warrant in the investigation of a crime.
You can play with that thought and argue against it till the cows come home. What happened Jan 6th was an attempt to undermine the Constitutional process. That is inarguable, that was the stated goal. It was an attempt to provide a compelling reason to declare martial law and nullify the election. Censorship, no, a website can still publish false conspiracy theories but will be held responsible for facilitating it if it can be proven that plans were discussed on that web site.

The problem with your proposal is in the details. Who determines what is true and false. The same people that have banned countless conservatives from social media for alleged lies and hate speech, while allowing the same actions from liberals to stay on line. If the enforcement was even handed and appropriate then I might be persuaded to go along with that plan. But in the current system where the arbiters of truth are all from one political ideology the consequence of your proposal would be to shut down most discussion from the right. That, I'm not ok with.

How about reviving the FCC Fairness doctrine? That will give both sides an equal voice.

Actually it isn't. You're suggesting review before the fact, I'm suggesting review after the fact. I'm not saying people can't post, I'm saying they are responsible for its consequences. Read it again.

I've been looking for a post of yours that wasn't judgmental. Perhaps you could help with that too.
I thought you made it up. Turns out it's a real word, and it seems to describe you.

You should try VK so you can see even a Russian site that allowed the truth and anything you can say or post. For a Russian site, those we experience here have a lot to learn.
"Gabe" is also a good try.
