Could be you are right. Could be a pack mentality. Could be the Canon system is better in this situation. Could be the photographers at the event were a subset of the less intelligent. More intellect - I doubt it. You are entitled to your attitude - it is benign enough. Maybe they just like gray telephotos. I never thought it as a contest.
I will stick with my Nikons.

I have to many Nikons to count. I have at least one DSLR of every other manufacturer out there and enjoy them all. They all preform well but I still pack the Nikons when I get serious.

Simply watch any major sporting event where professional photographers depend on the very best equipment to get those money shots and the majority of thoses lenses are white. Even the high speed video camera at the MLB Championship games and World Series uses Canon L lenses and these cameras shoot at 5000 FPS.
