Good joke!

Here's what has always bothered me about the Star Trek series. They never discussed the artificial gravity that was invented. They always walked on floors. They actually would have been weightless like astronauts in the space station.

Bothered me too. It always seemed like they were always walking around in, well, rooms! And another thing, some of those other "planets" they were on, looked like Earth!

I always wondered what 24th century technology was invented to eliminate the need for pockets in their uniforms. Maybe Scotty was able to say "Computer, beam me a #6 Phillips-head screwdriver " and it will be transported to his hand. Hmmm, I wonder if a similar use of the transporter could explain why we never saw bathrooms on the Enterprise.

I would like to know where they placed the artificial gravity device in the ship. If you were above it, you would be walking on the floor. If you were on lower decks in the ship, you would be walking on the ceiling. If you were to the side of the artificial gravity device, you would be walking on the walls.

My biggest queries were always the holodeck and the universal translator...

On one episode they beamed a whole population onto the holodeck, and proceeded to go through a system of caverns... All in one room...? No matter what the hologram shows, if you walked across the room, you would still hit the wall.

The universal translator, though, that was a neat trick. Not only could it translate any language, but it could also make the alien's lips move in the shape of the English words...

Great show, though, once you could suspend disbelief.

Obviously you are ignorant when it comes to the invention of artificial gravity. It was acomplete accident and no one actually understands it to this day. A writter in what is called a studio put it in something called a script. Aparently scripts are very powerful things. Whatever is put in a script sometimes but not always (part of the non understood part of the script) becomes almost a religious experience. Since that is true it seems the script somehow makes all things possible. It is odd that scripts have been around for centuries but we still have only a basic understanding of their power. There are schools to teach abought them but no real knowledge is imparted. There are giant industry's that are based on the acquisition of scripts but even they seem to not be able to understand the most powerful secrets of the script. So all that being said trouble yourself not with questions about things in a script and how they work. Just rest assured that if it is in the script it is fact in that environment. Sorry for saying you are ignorant we are all ignorant when it comes to the power of the Almighty Script. Hope this helps. My my what a way to eake up. Lol

Any civilization advanced enough to invent a warp drive would find artificial gravity and teleportation and human waste treatment an after thought for engineering students. No worries mon... A whole planet in the neutral zone used as a waste treatment plant.

Please don't mix up original Star Trek and The New Generation. You are giving me a head ache.

In all the series and even the movies, short shrift was given to teleportation, and lack of explanations. According to the German physicist Werner Heisenberg (Uncertainty Principle), one can't measure and observe at the same time. You'd think that some writer would have come up with a "Heisenberg Compensator", to overcome the obvious dilemma.

Mr Gene Roddenberry made a few grand leaps into the future. All the script writers had to comply with what was standard to keep the series contiguous.
Yes there are bathrooms in every series. I had purchased the blueprints of each and you can go on line to find those blueprints even for the shuttle crafts. Artificial gravity made filming the series easier. With everyone rigged so they could float around the set would need additional stage hands.
In Star Trek Movie VI: The Undiscovered Country, there is a scene where there is no gravity on board the Star Ship. Having people floating around needed additional stage hands and additional props to make the movie seem realistic. Here is a blueprint of the Bridge on the USS Enterprise 1701-D. Between the Captain’s Office and The Turbolift is the Bathroom (Head). It is only accessible from the Captain’s Office. As for the TurboLift it requires multiple pods to move around and go from deck to deck. Again another leap.

That holodeck was extremely realistic. It's the ultimate in first person video games. Like you say - it's amazing how they never bumped into walls in the room.

I see that the Captain's office had a head. There's also a head for the bridge. No doubt, those were advanced toilets and would never clog up.
