I have this cactus plant in my yard that only seems to flower every few years. Anyone out there know the name of it? First shot with my phone, second with 105mm micro vr@ f/16, 1/60 and fill from SB600.
My goodness that is a huge flower! The cactus reminds me of an organ pipe that are seen in AZ, but they are not the same I don't believe. Nice photos
Thank you! It is amazing that the flower is so large in proportion to the actual plant. I just realized that I should have posted it on the photo gallery.
I have this plant too. I was told it is the Starfish cactus. I've had it for years, and had seen it bloom just once. Got this plant from my mom-in-law, and she called it a carrion cactus. She told me the bloom can be stinky, but I did not noticed it when mine have flowers. Have you noticed any stinky odor from your plant?
I guess that's it, because I just went out and looked at it and the flowers are already all wilting and stink! They only lasted a day or so.
