Not earbuds. I have never been able to fit them to my ears.

However, I have Bose QC-35 noise canceling headphones. I can highly recommend these for comfort, sound quality, and noise canceling. The ear cups are of VERY comfortable, compliant foam and covered with a soft, human friendly material. At first I scoffed at the high price. After using them, for years now, I can tell you they are worth every penny. There customer service is top notch as well. I had a problem with one pair I bought. It was still within warrantee and the sent me a new pair no questions asked (with a new warrantee. No I don't work for Bose. I am a mechanical engineer at Dolby Labs- maybe you've heard of us. We know a little bit about sound). I just really like these headphones and appreciate superior engineering.
They have saved me on many international flights from jet noise, loud conversations, and crying babies. Also use them in the shop and outdoors. Or just in my recliner listening to great music. They are bluetooth and can work with your phone. I don't know how I lived without them (smiley face).

Like fsommer I struggle with wireless buds I've tried several. I do have the Sony mx1002 and they are fabulous, I world expect the bud version to be the same. Several reviews have Jabra a very high rating and if I was in the market I would look hard at them but I love the Sony so why take a chance? I also use the Sony app for the headphones, which had given the headphones a software update I think 3 times so far, and a hissy of other features. Does Jabra do an app? With similar usefulness? I just wish buds world stay on place for me reliably. Good luck. Enjoy your music. We are so spoiled all this technology.

Are you trying to reduce general noise in your general area or protection for your hearing. I shoot regularly on a range and use Pro Ears Gold but nothing will give you total protection. I lost hearing on an indoor range with ear protection. Now I use buds and muffs together. Buds only cut down about 10 decibels. Hope this helps Bob.

gsmith051 is correct as it is a rare helicopter logging pilot who flies without using both ear buds AND ear muffs. Most of their flying is done with their head outside of the cockpit so they need all the protection they can use.

I got the same headphones. Incredible! Those Beats are not even close. My cousin had the Beats wireless. He tried my Bose. And dumbass threw his Beats into a fire drum, a lit fire drum and got on the truck. Drove to Best Buy and came back 45 minutes later with the Bose !

I should have mentioned these are for music and audio recordings, not for a shooting range. The QC 35 II sound interesting. The Sony WF-1000 also gets good reviews but I understand they've been out for 2 years or so.....thinking better technology since then.
The Bose work great for music. They are Bluetooth, and hooked right up to my Amazon TV, Samsung Sound Bar, LG sound Bar, PC, Cell phone. You can talk and make calls with them on, even send text messages just by talking with them on. I guess that's true of any Bluetooth type devices like this. The sound is what you would expect from Bose I guess. My ears are not what they used to be to say the least, but these sound good to me.

I did go with the Bose following an internal debate about the Sony. Your sage advice was the determining factor and I thank you for it. I'll report back as to my impressions after I've worn them in various conditions.

I don't see the appeal of noise cancelling earbuds. If I'm at home, I want to be able to hear the phone ring. If I'm out walking or in a car, I want to be able to hear sirens or car horns.

Both good points, but there are many uses where they are great. If you fly commercial air lines often, you must notice that listening to music with regular earphones is horrible. With noise cancelling would be great. Cutting the grass might be a place where they would be nice as well. Recently, my kids were playing some goofy game, having some beers with their music blasting. I put on the headphones, turned them on high and magically the LOUD noise all but disappeared. Turned on my cell phone music and all was good with the world. I really was amazed. I kept switching them on and off, just to be amazed. The noise cancelling is all electronic, has nothing much to do with the ear covering material far as I can tell.

The Bose have 3 settings, high, medium and off. If you are alone and worrying about missing important noise, then turn off the noise cancelling. I'm sure other brands do much the same.

The only ones I've ever worn are these Bose ones, and they work just fine. They are very expensive however, which is a trademark of Bose I guess. I would not use noise cancelling in my shop, or anywhere the noise of machinery might be important to detect problems, noisy bearings, motors knocking, stuff like that. This might be where the medium setting might be used, I don't know, haven't had them that long.
