Thanks for your suggestions and taking time to respond. I picked up a Baby Lock Creative Pro today for $50.00 from a sewing supplies place. They let me try it out with a denim pant leg scrap with a thick seam. That was the deal breaker. I figure I can't beat the price even if it doesn't outlast me.

$50.00! Wow! View that as an early Christmas gift. I have never heard a discouraging word about a BLCP. Have fun and enjoy your bargain.

Sorry. I see now you've got your machine. Great deal! Hope all goes well for you. Btw, the Viking machine I mentioned was purchased used also.

Thank you. And thanks for taking time to respond.

Thank you. Unfortunately, this one is lacking a user manual. I'm getting ready to order one on E-Bay for $23.00. I think a manual is a must for a new(to me) machine.

Sewer seems a poor choice of words. How about "Textile Artist"?

I am that way, too. When I was still working, I read every manual for everything, I guess I still do. I always learn something. $23.00 is a fair price to pay if you only learn a few of your new machine's features, and I'll wager that you will learn more than that. Just knowing where (and where not) to oil is critical. Have fun with your purchase and keep us informed on how it works out for you.

What's funny is how you get a thick manual with a toaster and NO manual with a new smart tv.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Haven't bought a toaster in years, but got a smart TV recently. The manual was about 8 pages, of which 3 were dedicated to safety recommendations. The TV is too smart for me to operate reliably.

Yeah, ya gotta be careful about taking the tv into your bath with you.
I'm still trying to figure out how to "answer" calls from my new (to me) LG 3 android smart phone. Tapping the word"answer" doesn't work. It just keeps on ringing. Good thing about the old land lines is you just pick the darn thing up.

Please beware, Singer does not warranty any machine not purchased from authorized dealer. I bought one, new in the sealed box, from ebay and Singer would not recognize the warranty

I purchased a lightly used Baby Lock machine a couple days after my original post.
Waiting for the manual to arrive from E-Bay.
