A friend went to her brother's house to feed the cat while the family is away, and the sweet little kitty attacked her. It dug its fangs deep into her arm. She got treated at the ER. I've had cats most of my life, and I've never had anything like that happen. Scary.

I had a Siamese, a big guy, 12#, and a friend indeed. I went on a business trip, leaving all the cat needed in the garage and with the TV to keep him company. When I got home, I opened the garage door and out he came, pissed because I had not been there he jumped the back of my leg and bit, tho controlled, no deep wounds.

If it had been a dog protecting the home from the stranger who came to feed it, then even worse wounds and even more Scary. Jerry, dogs, and cats are people too. Out of good decorum, I did not ask you the party affiliation of the cat.

The correct party, of course.

Perhaps the Howling-party Those cats are always setting on the fence making a lot of noise.

Actually a little sexually kinky at times as reported in the 1960s on TV, actually a full howlingly funny musical movie... Shocking when my Baptist moral me saw it. My southern cousin was shocked and said it was worse than the mixing of races covered by miscegenation laws. Humph, and he was a confessed stump jumper!!

"Archie was a cockroach and got a thing for Mehitable who had Alley Cat morals. Edie Bracken reprised his role as Archy, and George S. Irving played Big Bill; Chita Rivera was standby to Eartha Kitt as Mehitabel. In May 1960 an abridged version of the musical was broadcast on syndicated television under the original title archy & mehitabel with Bracken, Tammy Grimes, and Jules Munshin in the cast. The Allied Artists animated feature film Shinbone Alley (1971) brought Bracken and Channing back together providing voices for the lead roles."

I know that, Jerry knows that, and you know that, but some cats and dogs don't know that.

Go to Iampuma.com for a loving 150# lap cat [Puma] who has emotions and expresses them. Very loving cat, who gets his feelings hurt, who purrs when being loved, who worries when "dad" is late, and so on.

This cat took 2nd place in a dog obedience contest. Amazing. This Russian couple also has a loving leopard raised from a kitten, also amazing.

My friend went to the ER last night and got a cleaning of the wound, a tetanus shot, and two antibiotics, with an order to see her own doctor within three days. She can't bend her arm now. That cat should become a meal for someone. I'd be afraid to sleep in that house. : )

Cat bites can be extremely dangerous. Hopefully, she will follow up with her doc today.

I have the sweetest Abyssinian girl you can imagine - grooms your eyebrows if you let her. I took her to our cat vet the other day for a rabies shot and an annual check. They won’t let us go in any more - you leave the carrier at their door and they come get her/him and then call you when they’re done. These cat specialty vets have been looking after our Abbys for many decades, so imagine my surprise when the vet called to say they were afraid to get her out of the carrier lest she or the tech get injured. Apparently she turned into Cujo, and even at 8 lbs, she’s all muscle, super sharp claws and teeth. This kitty is about a year and a half old and has only been to the vet once (to get spayed) and apparently she has not forgotten. Maybe it would have been different if I was there. It’s easy to forget that just under the skin, cats are ultra efficient predators, and it only takes a little perceived pain/threat to bring that to the surface, quickly.

Jerry, fear not, there are no Werecats, however if bitten by a dog your neighbor might be Werewolf.

Well perhaps I spoke too soon, I recall the movie [documentary surly] in which Nastassja-Kinski was the cat people; Nastassja-Kinski was the main character. To have Cat-People-Nastassja-Kinski bite your neck you may find pleasureful.
Watch the original old 1942 movie: https://www.amazon.com/Cat-People-Simone-Simon/dp/B004VFKDV6

Dogs with their wet slobbering tongues are rarely in horror movies but cats, especially black cats have created fear in your mind Jerry: https://www.litter-robot.com/blog/2018/10/05/25-horror-films-featuring-cats/

Once you are dead Jerry, you will not care, but for your information: "Forensic Investigation Research Station at Colorado Mesa University. While conducting a study on body decomposition, in separate incidents, forensic researchers unintentionally captured footage of two feral cats feasting on human corpses. Interestingly, the cats picked favorites, each returning to their preferred body multiple times over the course of several weeks."

Happened to me a few years ago. I went to my daughter’s house to water the tree and feed and play with the (crazy) cat. I didn’t have to got to the hospital but that was the last time I looked after the cat.
He was a crazy cat in the first place. He never ever answered to his name. He only responded or came to a certain 2 note whistle.

The cat's brain should be at a lab being checked for rabies. I worked for a number of years with the USDA National
Rabies Management Program. Always take animal bites seriously.
Contact the local Animal Control Department or the Health Department. The cat should at least be confined at
Animal Control for a period of days for observation. The victim probably should be getting rabies treatment
to be safe. If you get it, it's a death sentence. Very, very few people have ever survived it.

I know 4 people who have been attacked by their own "loving" cat they have had for years. One was bitten all over his face, neck and chest, had a hard time getting the cat off. His wife had to knock it off with a broom. He had over 100 stitches and terrible infection, so took a long time to heal. Another friend died from infection caused by her bites and scratches. The other two were bad enough to go to the ER but they healed fairly quickly. I'm not afraid of many things, but THAT is why I am scared of cats and don't want them around me.
