I just purchased a new iMac. Sadly it does not have a cd slot. Is there any way to install my photoshop program without having to pay monthly or yearly for a downloaded version. It’s an older version but works well and I hate to pay for a new one.
You can pick up an external cd reader pretty cheaply at Best Buy or on Amazon to keep you out of the subscription trap.

Totally agree.
Years ago when the DVD drives were relegated to the dustbin of computer history, I bought an LG USB DVD reader/writer at Best Buy for $35 or thereabouts. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. It is rarely used today but it is nice to have it for use if needed.

Go to Adobe and to your account and download your version.

Which version of Ps CS on a ROM do you have? I have Ps CS6 Extended running on my Windows 10 PC fine. The Program DVD-ROM has both Windows and Mac versions on it. I got it just months before Adobe went all Cloud Subscription crazy.
Not sure about this no DVD drive BS, seems to be rare on stripped stock LapTop PCs, but not even needed as an add on to most Dell Desktop Towers, pretty much standard on ones produced at least thru September. You can even order models with blu-ray player. Apple seems to have gone all DL for software.
I know! That is so annoying! I recently bought a Dell desktop, and I didn't notice that it had no slot. I bought an external, but it uses the slightly larger USB cable, and I can't locate one right now.
What's even more annoying is this Dell cannot accept an internal drive if I were to buy one. I bought this because my regular computer needs repair, but local repair places aren't doing much.
If you have the disk and you have a friend that has a DVD/cd drive on their computer, copy the cd/DVD to a flash drive.

You just bought a new iMac with the latest Apple operating system? You want to put old Adobe software, designed for older operating systems on your new computer? Adobe's user forums have posts from others doing that and, although inconsistent, there is stress in those posts. "Why does my new computer keep crashing when I .........?
If you hate subscriptions, buy something current to go with your new computer and its new operating system.
If your iMac is new, it probably only runs 64 bit programs. I don't think any old Photoshop software available on CDs is 64 bit. You may be able to install Parallels and an older version of the OS to run the Adobe programs, but it could be a bit time-consuming to do so.

And that is likely to be the issue.
If you choose to get an external optical drive, you might consider one that will read/write Blu Ray and MDisks. MDisks are an excellent archive media and available in 100 GB size.

You can certainly buy a new CD reader, but your money is better spent using current software for a mountain of reasons - summarizing - it works way better than any previous version. You have a nice new computer, so treat yourself.
Thank you all for the suggestions. I’m not very proficient with ps but do use it occasionally so I thought the version I had would do. I appreciate all the help. This is the best site!

I think that's what I wrote. Somehow you wrote in a nicer way.
Download directly from your Adobe account. There is the software listed what you own and the code I believe it’s listed too
