Perhaps some years into the future we'll all be kinder to each other and there will be no need for an Attic, period.

In the meantime, there are hundreds of UHH users who are in the "value" category that Admin mentions. I'd spend more time with those folks 🤗

Then do so.

Admin says that my post is 100% political.

I never said that. I said your post sealed the topic as 100% political. Which it did.

This is what you posted:

SteveR wrote:
Imagine Antifa if it's candidate lost with a majority of Representatives in the House but losing the block vote of states.

And while I'm sure you can claim this is part of a "Constitutional discussion", I simply don't agree with that.

In my subjective opinion, talking about Antifa right around the election time (you posted it on November 6), when things still weren't clear, and when people were worried that there might be nationwide riots if Biden loses -- that's definitely political. And honestly, I won't be wasting my time arguing that it's not.

It doesn't mean that somehow this is all your fault. Look at the entirety of that topic.

What happened was the topic turned political, and then it was moved from GCC to the Attic.

And we wouldn't even be talking about it if not for LWW's inability to contain his butthurt and start spreading lies that his "historical thread" was "booted". It was no longer a historical thread.

Other than that, it was a non-event. Just a thread moved to the appropriate section. Done and forgotten.

SteveR wrote:
To find fault with LWW because of innocent discussions like this is really inhibitive.

Not that it matters anymore since LWW is no longer a user on this forum, but please don't reduce his multitude of violations to "innocent discussions". He had plenty of warnings. The latest of which, as an example, was for this deleted post which would have spoiled yet another topic in GCC:

LWW wrote:
Millions upon millions have died on the altar of the left's omnipotent, omniscient, omnivorous and omnipresent state.

Is that non-political too?

And he's had a lot of warnings. A lot. Nobody gets suspended or banned from a section on their first violation (or second, or third...). He just kept ignoring the warnings as if somehow he is special.
So then, he had his access to GCC revoked. Because what else do you expect me to do about a user who keeps bringing politics to GCC after having been told repeatedly to stop doing that?

Some users just can't control themselves. And they end up ruining the forum experience for the other users. At some point I have to draw the line somewhere. So that was the end of his access to the GCC section. Warning him didn't do anything.

And even then, he still had access to the Attic where he could continue posting his politics. I couldn't care less what he posts.

In any case, as I said I'm done bending over backwards, especially for the low-value users who do nothing but post garbage in the Attic.

And I don't think it's appropriate to continue talking about LWW going forward, since he can't reply. I just wanted to clarify that it wasn't "because of innocent discussions" as you put it.

It was because he kept ignoring the warnings. And while each individual violation might not seem like a big deal, when you realize a person has no intention of slowing down, there is really no other option but to revoke his access to GCC. Otherwise, it will turn into Attic. And we already have one Attic.

More than most of us would. Its easy to follow the rules.

I quit posting in the other sections and now just read them.

Admin - Thank you for creating this wonderful site. I appreciate the opportunity to discuss political topics with people on all sides of the issues. We should all be more respectful to each other. I admit that I haven't always been as respectful as I should be and I will try to do better. Our country is so terribly divided, and the vitriolic rhetoric is certainly not helpful, and in my opinion, not patriotic because it damages our country.

In addition to political discussions, why not add a recipe exchange, religious views, or gaming strategies?
I mean, after all it is a photography forum, right?
Maybe we should respect the fact that it's a photography forum and not Facebook.
As for respect, obviously there are people who were not brought up to display that.
Then there are people who are only concerned with themselves, and want to discuss whatever they want,
including trite diatribes on things that have nothing to do with photography.

Yes, I'm an American. And all I wrote above applies to you too. I'm tired of low-value users, who do nothing but post crap in the Attic, taking turns shitting on me.

So the same deal goes for you. When I kick you out, it will be made clear to you too. And the reason will be: "because I don't like you". No need to invent stories about political bias.

And when you have created something I'm using daily and have been using for years, then we'll talk about me respecting you and your work. (Although, there won't be a need for such talk as unlike you I wouldn't be shitting on someone whose work I'm using.)

And that goes for all low-value users.

If I open up your post list and all I see is the Attic and no challenges, no pictures, no tutorials, no attempts to help others with their gear or composition questions, no discussions about photography at all, then guess what, you are a low-value user to me.

I could take some crap from the good users we have here, those who provide value to this forum (and those who are sometimes driven away by users like you), but I won't be taking crap from you.

If you lack the intellectual capacity to understand any of that, it's really not my problem.

One more peep and you are out. (Or, just leave and find yourself another forum. That works for me too.)
Yes, I'm an American. And all I wrote above applie... (show quote)

Despite you pointing out my Antifa reference, when you say, "this is where it starts getting political" you post a link that does not reference that post, but the previous post that merely discusses the voting by block in Congress after an electoral college tie. If that is political, could you explain why to me? Also, why so sensitive about Antifa? They're off the rails. They're violent. Not within the mainstream political spectrum.
