I have often seen the same in the marshes down here. The birds sometimes seem oblivious. I have seen them get eaten, too. Nice shot.

Although I am not sure, if the aligator is interested in this particular bird?
His head is facing away from the bird. Turning around would alarm the bird for sure?
Maybe, he had something else in his sight?

Looks to me like he has his eye on alberio, who would certainly be a more substantial meal than the bird . . .

Gator is past the bird moving to the left, as you can see a bit of his tail to the right of the bird.
