This is a lovely, spontaneous-moment type photo; no technical perfection needed! Some helpful friends on this site may use one of their programs to sharpen it, but even without the sharpening, the expressions and body language at play makes this a great memory for the bride, groom, and all family members.

Well since they used a friend to shoot the wedding instead of paying for a professional wedding photographer, they really should not be complaining at all. I am assuming they did not pay this photographer either.

I don't want to bash anyone but this is the problem with so many of these weddings where they will pay for a hall and dress and catering and flowers but skimp on the one thig that will last, the photography.

If the shutter was too slow, there will be blur, and it can't be fixed, if the light was not correctly exposed for in brightness or colour balance, then they might be stuck with what they got. My best suggestions, since this is a photo that can be reshot, is to get dressed up again and ask the priest to be available and hire a photographer that knows what he is doing and recreate the shot just the way they want it to look. No one will know it was not shot on the day other than the three in the recreated photo.

I wish I was near them too. I’m not a professional but I do understand what needs to go into this shot and believe I can handle it quite well. However I did invite them down to me in NC and we could go wherever they want to do some other pics dressed in their wedding attire. There are beautiful gardens and arboretums here that would be beautiful.

I hope that works out...that you can recapture the spontaneity.

I downloaded and played with this in Photoshop's Camera Raw filter and came up with about the same things as most others. The biggest issue for me was the White Balance. It is really way to warm. You know, it reminded me a lot of the old Instamatic pictures.

Well I see you've received a lot of help so far. Here's another few ideas

1) removed the orange color cast and set color cast to neutral gray.

2) reduced the overall contrast making the image look a little softer.

3) Separated the couple from the background. Blurred and reduced the background exposure. This creates a lot of contrast between the couple and their surroundings. This brings the focus of attention to the couple and also enhances the perceived sharpness.

4) And all wedding albums have some B&W images in them. Converted to B&W, brightened the background. Did this to separate the couples faces and the background. Then reduced contrast to give a softer feel to the image.

These were just quick edits. But, if this approach interests you, send a PM and I'll send you the PS file with these edits.

Hope this helps your idea generation

Mike

Yes It would be a lot of fun as I’m not the stand pose like this.. I like to capture the essence of the moment! This will just be a part of their wonderful day together!!

I’m really on board with second to the last one! Yeah the blurring around them works to make them pop. Thanks so much!! I am thrilled too with all the wonderful ideas and responses!! 🥰

I was wondering if it might improve a little to remove the cone coming out of her head?

I did a monotone and have yet to try sephia! Thank you for your advice!

You can apply a sepia tone to a monochrome by just adding a color LUT adjustment layer in PS. LR has similar capabilities.

Here's an example, added the 'Crisp-Warm' LUT in PS.

Looks to me that spacey also sharpened as well as white balance adjustment. That along with Kozan's suggestion to crop the flag pole out on the left, you'd have a winner. You could also lighten a little if you like.

After looking thru the comments I went back and read your original post and you said you want something that is “right for her”. Is that from your perspective or from the bride’s? Has the bride told you: “it’s nice but...” or are you looking to improve it? I think it makes a difference. We all want everything to be “the best” but exactly what that means will vary. I think you’ve captured the pure joy the bride and groom were feeling at the moment and while the magic of Photoshop et al can enhance the technical quality of the image, it’s that “look” that makes the photo great and they will treasure it for years to come. So, make some tweaks if you must but don’t do anything to distract from the essence of the moment.
Just my opinion, of course.
