Carbon Copy Cloner is what I use. I believe the basic version is still free.

I use Acronis and have for several years. I have used the backup to rescue my machine after a drive replacement, a complete rebuild and one incident in which a corrupted download for an update messed up a lot of my files. In the last case the software company did send me repair instructions but recovering from the day before backup was easier and faster. I set it to run while I watched the evening news and a couple of old Star Trek episodes. The new stuff I did that day was OK so I just copied it to a thumb drive, did the recovery and then reimported the new day's pictures from the thumb drive.

That's what I'm using now. Since I upgraded to Acronis 2021 the F11 key you use to boot into system recovery is giving me a problems. It keeps on freezing up once it boots into system recovery. Trying to get tech support is like pulling teeth

Do you use Windows?
If so it may be Windows causing the problem. After the Win 10 v2004 update in Spring I started having problems with buttons not working and being signed out of sites and apps, sometimes while I was on them. I tried all the fixes on the Microsoft Web Site and it kept recurring. So in desperation I changed from logging in with a local account to a Microsoft account.
Now 95% plus of the problems have disappeared.
Of course it keeps wanting to sync all my devices and in some cases did it automatically without asking. There were reasons I had different machines set up differently - for different family members - for different uses etc.
Now it is working on me to permanently switch to Edge from Google Chrome. About once a month I try the latest version of Edge but I always uninstall it and go back to Google Chrome because several sites I use (like my Kaiser Health Care account) are optimized for Chrome and after years of using it I know where and how to find things and what settings to use.
Most of the remaining problems are with Office Outlook telling me it doesn't have permission to access an e-mail account, usually the outlook.com account - funny I also have a Hotmail.com and an old MSN.com e-mail coming through outlook and they work fine. One message I got a few times is that going to Microsoft 365 should clear up the problem. I am using Microsoft 365 but in settings it still urges me to go to 365.

OK. Over the years I have had Acronis 2012, 2015, 2019 and now 2021 (didn't it start as 2020 then update???) In each case I bought "lifetime" versions, so I have access to all of those versions and I do have 2019 on two machines because I only bought the three machine license for 2021. The family has 5 desktops and two laptops. I use Acronis on all of them.

I bought 2019 single ver. then did an update like you bought the three machine license. Every thing was great until I did the update to 2021.For some strange reason when I hit the F11 key it starts to boot then locks up. And this happens on all three computers two laptops one desktop running W10.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving stay safe and click away!

And the same to you, if things keep up as they are So Cal will have an 80°F Thanksgiving.
Because of the Covid thing I am urging the wife to just do a turkey breast and a small canned ham (to slice for breakfast) with a package of premade dressing, potatoes, veggies and Cranberry Jelly for me. I will help with that stuff since I picked things I can cook well and I will do the biscuits, cornbread and crockpot of Chili so we will then be fixed for the whole 4 day weekend. She has foot and leg problems plus hand and thumb issues from decades on her feet as a surgical nurse who strained her hands a couple of times because she wouldn't admit they needed an orderly/aide to move heavy patients. So I try to do a lot around the kitchen and urge cooking dishes that can be fixed and then we eat them for 2-4 days.

Acronis Mirror Image works really well, and once you set it up, runs in the background unattended on your schedule.

There is an Acronis user forum where I've always gotten quick answers to questions.

Boy can I relate to that. My wife is a retired RN, and the work can really do you physical damage. She’s had both knees replaced and titanium rods with brackets supporting her back, so she can’t bend or twist. I remember when she came home one night and because the hospital had implemented “total patient care”, there were no orderlies to help her get a dead patient into a body bag. I can imagine a nurse on her hands and knees on a patient’s bed trying to accomplish that. She graduated from a small nursing school near Carmel and took her boards in CA.

Although both my boys and grandchildren live close to us, this year, for the first time in about 40 years, we won’t be hosting a big Thanksgiving dinner - probably doing something like you. Still trying to figure out how to do Christmas...

My first sorta joking suggestion was a case of Turkey and Dressing TV dinners. That went over like a lead balloon.
My second was killed because of price. One of those complete meals in a box delivered - we have a couple of restaurants in the area that do good ones. I ordered one once when she was working on Thanksgiving Day, it was great. The kids and I warmed and had it for our dinner and then had a place set for her when she walked in the door late that night and we played wait staff. But with all the ordering and heavy business at take put places the price is almost doubled this year.

I use a series of flash drives, much cheaper, much more reliable. And I made at least three copies. Never, never had a problem.
