A month or two back someone, possibly jerryc41, posted about a switch to connect several hdmi inputs to a single output to a tv. Has anyone heard about the result or tried one themselves?

Thanks,
Bill

Bought 1 from Amazon. Has it's own remote & works as advertised. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CF793HQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details

Bill, I believe that you can only use one at a time. Just an FYI.

I have one. I got it when I got Roku. The TV had only one hdmi input, so the Roku plugged into one port on the switch, cable box on the other. It works.

I need this because my old "dumb" TV has only two HDMI inputs and I have three input sources.

But jeez; not another adapter to plug in and a remote to deal with! Is there a mechanical version of this that simply has a slide switch to change between inputs? When video games first came out I had a little box the size of a cigarette pack that I could manually switch between the game and the antenna/cable. No electricity or remotes needed.

An excellent source for this type of device, as well as any cable imaginable is Monoprice.com. Very reliable, great prices and an amazing selection.

I have one of those "dumb" TVs with only two inputs, also. I'm signed up with YouTubeTV which is WiFi so I don't need a cable box or a satellite receiver taking up one of the inputs so two inputs are usually more than enough. If for some reason I need to plug something else in I simply unplug the DVD player and attach what I need at the moment.

I use this manual switch for our DVD and cable box in the bedroom since our TV has only one HDMI input.

I used one perhaps 7 or 8 years ago! Our TV at the time didn't have enough HDMI ports. Worked fine.

Just note that whatever the lowest common denominator HDMI input is is what you will get. Dual to copy protection and licence to use HDMI design any channel will default to the minimum.
The way you are looking to use a switch this should not be an issue for you but if you were looking at something more elaborate you may find a switch WILL NOT allow you to do some things.
An example might be where you connect something that only allows stereo audio but something else that allows 5.1 channel audio. Everything will default to stereo and you lose the 5.1 audio. It only affects audio as far as I can tell.
It really is a PITA and I could happily throttle whoever designed it this way. Being an anti-piracy issue it only stops those who aren't pirating anyway as a true pirate can circumvent it.
