It's been a while since getting things going again after leaving my rig out in the hurricane . 50mph wind didn't move the tripod but, how it rotated the tube and loosen the weights is beyond me. Not too shabby for {11,090 ly away from Earth}.
I had not ran on this before but, this one is a work in progress. This is what I have so far after 2 nights unable to get that tight focus, it must be the temp that keeps messing with it. I AF every 20 frames , I don't know any ideas? And I keep getting this message in updater that there's a better driver than the one I've already have installed but, I be damned if I know which it is. I'm going to try to get a Mars one of the nights the weather allows me to get out. {fingers crossed}.

Hi Stepping Beyond
Nice shot. The focus doesn't look that bad to me, maybe a hair soft. If the air was turbulent clean focus can be next to impossible. You mentioned temperature, was there a large change while imaging?

Ballard , the temperature went from 67°f to 45°f on the night I captured this data in Oct. after the Sun went down estimated 2 hours for the bottom to drop out . So , from 630pm est to 830pm dropped 22° and held there . Of coarse , Teamviewer wasn't cooperating either.

That is a pretty steep decline alright. That would require more frequent refocusing. I'm stuck with rain and clouds so no no viewing for me for at least a few days.

I haven't figured out a temperature curve for my rid-a-ma-jig focuser.
But I do know it can change considerably as the temperature drops.

There are so many variables in this sport. All we can do is to try.

It looks really great so far.
Amazing you didn't get your mount messed up.

I'm getting clouds a lot lately.
And cold weather...

Sonny , already packed it back in the cave . Another hurricane on its way Wed. I need to get that rag off my ota rings by putting some self adhering door weatherstrip foam ,address the tube slip and glue gun a couple of baffles inside the ota . ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

I will say, you have been the most determined - dedicated - astroimager in the Galaxy. Had I your initial problems....I think I would have thrown in the bloody towel!

Your images will only get better and better - provided we get a few clear sky nights. BTW, it looks like this week is a bust ...but next week, starting Monday, is look very good. Fingers crossed!!

Ed , you're something else . I visit your website and I'm amazed at the amount of targets you've hit. I'm stuck with trees and LP for a while longer, I like this little town but, the trees and neighbors have got to go. I sure hope I get my baffles inside my ota glue gunned before then .

Thanks Brian , I just may get a few more than 40 nights this year , Since getting my Avx mount I've had a whopping 23 nights with 8 nights fumbling around to get it going . We're getting so much rain my yard is a soggy sponge , Flooding all over the State.

For those who already know.....Stepping Beyond lives just a rock throw away from me. We are always the victim of gulf and atlantic hurricanes - rain, wind, more rain, more wind and of course clouds - more clouds - year in and year out. Both Stepping and I are trading our wives, kids, grands, and all of our friends in for new gear and moving to Texas. Look for us showing up somewhere in the middle of Big Bend Park (the least light polluted area of the US), Texas. SOOOOON!

Yea right Ed ! how ya feeling brother , I need to head where the humidity is non - existent . My Arthritis is killing me with all this rain , I feel like I've went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson tenderizing me with body blows every round . I did get everything done that I had to and got out tonight and grabbed 50 frames on the Bubble . Then went for Andromeda and worked on getting the camera rotated to 303° so I could continue another mosaic but, clouds spoiled my party. We got a ton of rain moving the equipment was a real challenge for us up the Cave.
