Canon L series Macro lens

I am looking for exactly that, a Canon L Series Macro lens.
If you have one in ideal condition, sitting in a box or lens case, and don't use it anymore, let me know what you would be asking.

There's two models / focal lengths, you might want to be more specific.

Point taken, thank you. I'm wanting to do some 1:1 captures, so I'm suspecting that the 100 mm 2.8 would serve my needs. I'm wanting to capture images I can use in my classroom teaching. I would be using this with my 5DII.

The 100mm is IS-enabled. So, depending on your subjects, it maybe the better option. I had the non L 100mm version, everywhere as good, except the accessories are all extra. If you're doing detailed work typically from a tripod, the non L version is a great option used, especially if you can get the hood and tripod collar bundled in the price. The 180mm is a great lens, the one I have now, but for sure a tripod tool.

Now this is going to make me sound like a total snob. I save long and hard, and so far I have three L lenses, which completes my wishes. The Macro would be more hobby used. At the current time, I have a Canon Compact-Macro 50mm. I'm passing three lasers through a gem to see what I can create. More for my usage than the classroom. I have found, in the past, that the L series creates a much sharper image than a non-L. And that is the only reason why I'm looking for a gently used L macro.

You know I serve-up the most Canon propaganda on this site. Most of it is only real if you believe it. The tools are different with the IS-added, and the L lens having a more rugged build, but the images from two Canon 100mm macro lens with f/2.8 max apertures are identical. Your intended usage will determine the differences more than the image results.

While I do not post nearly as much as you do (my teaching gets in the way, said tongue in cheek for I love teaching), I check in this board every single day. And I've ordered protective glasses for the range of laser light. I've always wanted to experiment with macro photography via laser light through gems.

Thank you for the input. I have also been looking at the 100mm 2.8L Macro but you have convinced me that the non-L is just as good with a tripod. I use a tripod and so maybe I should be on the lookout for a non-L series? Thanks.

Hi, I have a Canon 100mm 1:2.8, IS, L Macro Lens that is like new. I haven't used it much since I bought a 100-400mm f/4-5.6 does does quite well with close ups. Not as good as the macro lens, but serves my purposes. Let me know if you are interested. kenpanck@aol.com
